Mumbai Style Sandwich

Serves: 3 to 4 people


For Potato Masala

~ 6 medium sized potatoes (mashed) 

~ 6 tbsp oil

~ 2 green chillies (chopped) 

~ 3 curry leaves 

~ 1 big sliced onion 

~ ¼ tbsp mustard seeds

~ ½ tbsp cumin seeds

~ Salt according to taste

~ 1 tbsp red chilli powder

~ 1 tbsp turmeric

~ Pinch of black salt

~ ¼ cup chopped coriander leaves

~ ½ lemon

For Green Chutney

~ 1 bowl coriander leaves (medium sized bowl)

~ 1 1/2 spoon ginger garlic paste

~ Half tbsp cumin seeds

~ 8 green chilies

~ 1/4 tbsp Black salt

~ 1/2 lemon

~ 2 tbsp Yoghurt

~ Salt according to the taste

~ 1/4th cup water


For Potato Masala:

~ In a pan take oil and heat it for a while then add curry leaves and mustard seeds, let it splutter

~ Then add sliced onions, cumin seeds and green chillies. Cook it till the onions become transparent

~ Then add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric and black salt, cook it for about a minute

~ Then add the mashed potatoes and mix everything properly

~ Finally add coriander for garnishing

For Green Chutney:

~ Add all the ingredients for green chutney in a grinder and blend it to make a smooth paste

~ Take it out in a bowl

For Sandwich:

~ Take two breads and spread butter on them evenly followed by green chutney

~ Spread the potato masala on one bread slice and then sprinkle some chaat masala on top of it

~ Then add cheese on top of it and cover it with the other bread slice

~ Take a pan and grease it with some butter and then put sandwich on it.

~ Toast the sandwich till both sides become brown and crunchy

~ Then take it out from the pan and spread some ketchup or chutney and sprinkle some sev on it

~ Cut it in two halves and serve it with green chutney or ketchup.
